This week I had the privilege of helping out at a Bible study at a local Women’s shelter. They needed assistance with the elementary age kiddo. This week we had six kids: 5th grader to Kindergarten. I sat down at the table. A young girl, probably 4th grade, sat next to me. I soon noticed her leg pressed against my right leg. I moved my leg.
Well, after the third time it finally dawned on me that maybe it was on purpose. Then, she laid her head on my shoulder….HELLO DIANNA! This sweet girl was looking for some love and affection. I laid my head on top of hers and placed my arm around her. We sat just like that for about 5 minutes, while the group was being told their weekly Bible story.
There were three adults with these well behaved children…statistically, a little heavy on the ratio between adult and children. I thought I was just going to be a warm body that night. As it turned out, I was, and loved every minute of it.
It amazed me how anxious they were to voice their pray request. It made me tear up when they begin praying for each other, even laying their hands on their newly found shelter friend to pray over them.
Yes, I hope I can fill in again.
Their memory verse:
A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1
Now that is some great words to live by….
